Employee Preventive Care and Wellness Benefits

Through its partner EHP/Revive, The Back Bay Associates offers employers with more than 25 full-time W-2 employees a preventive care and wellness program that sits on top of existing health coverage. We recommend every employer have its own tax or benefits advisor review the program before enrolling.

Payroll Tax Considerations

According to EHP/Revive, the program is structured under Internal Revenue Code Sections 125, 105, and 106, and it can affect payroll tax costs. The IRS has issued guidance on how some wellness arrangements are treated for FICA purposes, including Chief Counsel Memorandum 202323006.

We recommend every employer have its own tax or benefits advisor review the program structure before enrolling, and we're glad to coordinate that review.
